About the Business
SCM Insurance Services is the largest independent, privately-owned provider of claims management, risk management, medical evaluations and related services in Canada.
With 146 companies under the SCM umbrella, the company’s mobility program has thousands of users. These employees count on SCM to provide effective services for billing, hardware and technical support related to their corporate cell phones.
Simplex helped SCM scale
As SCM grew over the years, the company’s wireless management group found itself facing complex issues. The volume of devices made it increasingly difficult to track usage and manage billing efficiently. Eventually the company outgrew the ability to use paper invoices and needed to develop new solutions. With the ever-growing list of available wireless hardware on the market, it was also difficult to retain specific approved hardware for their users. SCM needed to find a way to give users the option to choose the hardware of their preference while staying within the company’s budget.
In 2014, SCM turned to Simplex Mobility to help manage their devices efficiently and effectively. Simplex plays a crucial role in SCMs ability to provide the level of wireless management services their employees require, while closely managing costs and staying within budget.
Simplex provides services for:

- Technical support (by phone or email)
- Billing management
- Hardware inventory
- Tracking and reporting— flagging data overages, cancelling suspended lines, making arrangements for employees who are leaving
After listening closely to SCMs specific needs, Simplex also created and implemented a customized hardware purchasing portal system to give employees more options. This online store is a secure environment where employees can opt to pay by credit card for excess costs on more expensive hardware.
